Beijing Hospital
The former Beijing Hospital was a German hospital and founded in 1905. Now is a class-three &grade A hospital with being the health care centre for central committee cadres, which is a directly hospital under the Ministry of Health’s. Therefore, Beijing Hospital centers on senior cadres’ healthcare, focuses on geriatrics search, opens to outside utmost, therefore it can be called a large-scale integrated hospital with offering medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention.
Beijing Hospital is located in the heart of city, and adjoins Chang’an Street, Chongwenmen, Taijichang. Dongjiaomingang. With almost 2300 employees, land area aggregating approximately 53,000 square feet and building space totaling at 220,000 square feet. 1100 room beds for patients as well. In Beijing Hospital, there are 399 high technicists who are directors or vice-directors, professors or vice-professors, or researchers, or the correspond titles. There are 287 employees who own the educational level of post-doctorate, doctor or master. Beijing hospital sets 36 special sections, and 6 important sections. They take a long responsible for the health-care of the central committee cadres, they are also responsible for the health-care of department chiefs and other senior officers, and they still take another about eight hundred policy-holders’ health care task. Beijing hospital has received a lot of deadly patients from all other cities besides Beijing. Beijing hospital has many health-care experiences of national wide activities and important conferences. It has taken the health-care task for foreign presidents and has done an excellent work. The Hospital has spent over 1 billion RMB on medical equipment and precision instruments, including 1175 items, which each one worths more than one hundred thousand RMB, 146 items, which each one worths over one million RMB, MRI (3.0T/1.5T), and 64 multi-row spiral CT, PET / CT, Double probe coincidence system SPECT ,double C vessel CT Scanner, electronic linear accelerator with a respiratory gating devices, and three-dimensional positioning systems, X-knife, ultrasound focusing knife ,quick bacteria analyzer, the first fully automatic blood bank in Asia, streaming blood cell instrument and advanced monitoring systems.
Beijing hospital has good achievements in medical treatment、nursing、recovery、and health care and has gradually formed its own characteristic. Heart internal medicine department, breathe internal medicine department, psychopathy internal medicine department, chest surgical department, psychopathy surgical department and orthopaedics department are our major departments. In gerontology aspect, as the key relevant illness, such as diabetes mellitus, Parkinson, senile dementia, prostatomegaly, osteoarthropathy, infection of lung, myasthenia gravis,ect, The treatments have already reached the advanced level in China. Recent years, we have completed over 4600 operations for the elderly people 70 years old. Among the operations, the highest patient age is 102. In coronary heart disease treatment, the highest age is 91. Non extracorporeal circulation coronary artery bridging operations occupy 98% of the bridging operation patients, and use the mature diagnosis and the treatment technology in the senior cadre; therefore, we have accumulated rich experiences in the aged patient diagnosis and treatments.
There are many experienced famous academic experts and health care experts in our hospital, such as common surgery expert professor Wu Weirang(honorary president), cardiovascular disease expert professor Qian Yijian(honorary president), traditional Chinese medical science expert professor Chen Furen, neural medicine expert professor Wang Xinde, professor Xu Xianhao, professor Jiang Jingwen, oral medicine expert professor Han Zongqi, Professor Luan Wenmin, orthopedics expert professor Huang Gongyi, radiology expert professor Li Guo, nuclear medicine expert professor Qu Wanying and so on. Besides, we still have a batch of middle-aged and young academic leaders and technology cadre men, which play a very important role in the subjects’ construction in out hospital.
In order to make a better performance of expert advantage and specializing feature of Beijing hospital, we established special procurement medical treatment department and many relating research treatment centers, such as diagnosis and treat center for hypertension and cardiovascular disease, diagnosis and treat center for parkinsonism, diagnosis and treat center for neuroimmunology disease and myopathy, brain cognitive disease research center, diagnosis and treat center for joint surgery, research and treatment center for diabetes mellitus basing on combination therapy of Chinese and western medicines, diagnosis and treat center for mastotic, treat center for tumor, diagnosis, treat and consultation center for complicated disease, treat center for pain and so on. The centers’ patients were diagnosed by the famous experts, and then provide the patent with a comprehensive treatment blue print. The emergency room was established by the cooperation between the government of Italy and Beijing hospital, which have a lot of advanced medical instrument and equipment, all of these build a “emergency green path”.
The hospital is always active in developing international exchange and cooperation. So far it has already kept a good relationship with more than 20 countries, districts and over 70 international organization units. Each year, Almost 250 specialist and management level people go to study abroad, get a further training, take part in academic conference, develop cooperation research and visit investigation. The hospital welcomes nearly 200 foreign visitors every year. It has the special funds for bring up the talent people of going abroad, and already obtained achievements in scientific research as many as 161 items, presided or participated 39 national level scientific research topics, and published 2009 article papers. Among these, we have received 3 national level achievements in scientific research, over 50 provincial level achievements, presided or participated more than 100 national level scientific key problems’ tackling. “973”, “863”, National science foundation(NSF) and so on. More than 160 provincial scientific research topics, 5900 papers and both involved. Moreover, the hospital undertook the task of clinical education for almost one thousand post-graduates, undergraduates, junior college students and visiting scholars all year round. The hospital is still having 5 professional medical periodicals, which include the national statistical periodicals such as Chinese Journal of Geriatrics, Chinese Journal of Neuroimmunology and Neurology.
Beijing hospital has high effective administrative management and integrated logistics security system. There are more than 600 parking spaces in the basement. The most advanced laundry center and water、electricity、gas supply system, fire-fighting center , and security monitor system are all equipped. The hospital has perfected outpatient services、emergency treatment in recent years, what’s more, the patients’ environment in hospital has been much improved.
In February 1950, Chairman Mao writes “Beijing hospital” down in his handwriting for our hospital. President Zhou comes to visit Beijing hospital nearly 200 times and says with sincerely “we must do a good job”. In 1992, when the new south building starts are using, the leadership of China provide inscription with alacrity. Chairman Jiang’s inscription is “high quality service, greater perfection”. Former president Li’s inscription is “Beijing hospital is always developing”. The solicitude of the elderly proletariat revolutionists and the leadership of China for the all hospital staffs give them big inspirer and encouragement. We will keep working hard and carefully, puting the patients into the first place, building the central health care base well, and achieving the general comprehensive plan. We will try harder to achieve “Five top-grades” criterion: top-grade management, top-grade talents, top-grade technology, top-grade equipments and top-grade services.
